Yea, me lad, I am a lass with red hair & freckles. My mother's family came from Scotland &/or Ireland, so I am Scotish-Irish also! I have the geneaology but I tend to forget too easily, so forgive me if I err!
They came to America during the potato famine which were really difficult times for the Irish people! I saw a documentary on the famine & I am sure glad I wasn't there during those times! Terrible how they were treated! Therefore, I am thankful for what I do have....Praise God & Thank You, Jesus! Amen!
God Bless!

Traced back to outside of Pittsburgh in 1780. German Baptist they were. The stereotype of Irish is Irish Catholic. I'll bet they were popular back then. Thanks for asking.

Hey Paul, I wonder if we are related as my dad's side of the family were German & those in the South on my mother's side were Baptist with a lot of the men being preachers! I was raised in the Southern United Baptist Church, but now I am of the Pentecostal faith! Nothing against Baptists just learned more and grew stronger at a time in my life when I needed to do so with the Pentecosts!
God Bless!

The saying came in the United States. The Irish were never regarded as being lucky. The true and full saying is "The Luck of the Irish-if it weren't for bad luck they would have no luck at all." When the Irish came over during the potatoe famine they were treated badly by the English descended businessmen. They were given the most menial and dangerous tasks. They were given almost starvation wages. The families back in Ireland were facing starvation so they sent as much as they could back home to bring them here without spending much of anything with the merchants here. Many were dieing of disease or work related accidents. Those must have been the "Good old Days" that I have heard about.
Hope this isn't offensive to any English decendants as it's a part our history.
"And now you know the rest of the story".
May God bless you and yours.

once you step foot on those green, green grasses of Ireland. You become Irish for a day or week and so forth. Hee! Hee! I'm having a bubbly time.
So pick up that clover young man! If ye can find one.

I'd never been anywhere abroad before. Ireland was absolutely beautiful... After attending a wedding south of Dublin, we drove clear across the country and stayed in very remote farmhouse B&B's. You can keep the big cities as far as I'm concerned. All the small towns contain one really big church and at least one good pub.
Funny story... a guy in one of the pubs was playing a guitar and I asked what kind of guitar it was... "Do ya play do ya?" I said, "I play a little..." They all shouted, "Play us a tune! Play us a tune!" Well I played the only Irish folk song I knew and darn if they all weren't singing along I do believe a couple of free Mr. Guiness' went my way after that What a great bunch of people! Such a beautiful country. The country side and changing landscape is breathtaking. Quite often on our drive we would just pull over and sit on the side of the road... just to capture all the beauty. One day we'll make the trip back for sure

You guys and gals I'm sorry. I placed in my message Happy Valentines Day instead of Happy St. Patricks Day. Geez! Am I dumb or what. I'm so sorry people. Wake me up when I get the right observance day. I know, whip me with a wet noodle a dozen times.

probably will never be! I'll just wait for God's Golden City, His Emerald Isle, as His throne shines like unto an Emerald!
I love the Irish songs, music & dance. I am Irish through & through!
God Bless!
