I see aftermarket headphones recommended on several forums so I'm wondering how the stock Explorer headphones compare, are they good enough?
Thanks,

hi charles,
i think the stock headphones were ok but when i started reading alot of other posts from the guys here and what brands they just and like i did up grade to a better set. i'm now useing the grey ghost ndt head phones and im glad i did. i main reason is the noise reduction and also the fit.i also like the dual volume controls. just my opinion.

I use sunray stand and black magic headphones, they fit tight plus has nice switch which I can cut off threshold sound while digging

Hello from Western Australia.
I use in ear bud type ear/headphones that have the rubber external around the ear shape to hold them in place. They have really good volume, more than the stock headphones, and if fitted in the ear correctly, will block out most external noises. They are inexpensive,approx.$25-$30 AUs.
I believe there are ones available for high fidelity situations,so they may even help to pick up signals the stock headphones miss.

Charles,
Most of the original headphones dont last more than a few time out as they seem to fall apart. They could have save the money on those when they made them or had a set that was better.
I use the Timberwolfs for the volume they have and also have a set of the Gray Ghost Ultimates as they block out the background noise, very comfortable as I can wear them all day. If I have the best detector I have to have the best headphone to go along with it.
Are they worth it?? You bet they are!!
