Are the electronics the same on the Toltec 100 and Toltec II?

Other than differences in weigh and meter arrangement are the electronics sort of the same with the Toltec 100 and Toltec II?

I have the Toltec 100 model, just curious if both are similar performance wise. And does anyone know if an elliptical coil is available for the Toltec 100, going to switch around the meter arrangement on the Toltec 100 adding on a Toltec II meter above the handle and remounting the box underneath the armrest.

Would like to have an elliptical coil on the Toltec if possible, with the new meter arrangement and elliptical coil will be a neat setup.

Any help be greatly appreciated,
Paul (Ca)

No they were not the the same the Toltec 100 had a notch, a 10 turn Ground Adjust with a operating frequency of 10 kHz.The Toltec ll had no notch,an a single turn GB,and a operating frequency of 12 kHz .They were both fantastic detecteurs but for different reasons.

Hi Paul,

Like pulltaber said, they are quite a bit different, the Toltec ll has the ED-120 discrimination circuit which accepts all conductors down to small nails at minimum disc. setting. The Toltec 100 has the more limited D-90 disc.circuit and rejects more on the low end, from small nails up through small foil, so the Toltec ll would accept more tiny / or smaller gold than the T-100.

As far as meter compatibility, it should be OK, don't know, but Scott Me did a conversion on the T-100 years ago with a 6000 White's series meter and then made his own meter background face. The new Outlaw coil, the 12" X 10" DD coil will work on the T-100 as will any of the standard 5 pin

Thanks Randy,

Appreciate the information, I think you're right shouldn't be a problem using the Toltec II meter assembly on the T-100. And if an issue does arise can still switch analog meters to make it work.

Scott Me was great modifying detectors, in fact have two of his modified units they really are neat mods and now that you mentioned I do remember Scott doing a T-100.

ED-120 Discrimination circuit, So that explains why the Toltec II is better suited for iron laced sites guess the T-100 is more of a coin shorter sort of reminds me of the King Cobra.

Thanks again,
Paul

Thanks Pulltaber,

Wasn't aware of the kHz differences, I agree both would be good for different uses and over all both good all-around detectors.

Looking forward to changing mine up a bit, hopefully get if done in the next month or so.

Thanks agsin, appreciate the information.
Paul

Hi Paul,

I'm sure you meant to say ED-120 Disc. circuit used on the Toltec ll.--OOps, sorry, I just seen you changed it, my bad!!!...... ED-180 as used on the Compadre, Eldorado

Thanked Randy,

Appreciate the extra information and your experiences with the Toltec 100, can hardly wait to do the mod on mine going to be a fun project.

I've seen the Toltec 80 a few times on the Internet but never seen one up close, Ok cool its a simplfed version of the T-100 minus the notch and GB.

I was playing with mine the other day and seen it had two issues, minor problems I'll have to correct while its torn down for the mod. Analog meter not working sometimes and on/off selector pot not working correctly, may have to replace the on/off selector pot or add on an additional pot to power on the unit. None the less, these are minor issues.

Thanks again,
Paul (Ca)
