i am just curious, what detector out there is like or better than a tejon or troy 5 . not interested in display screens for the most part. just simply about depth, easy learning curve, and mainly for relics, in the fields- farm houses and deep woods.

Similar detectors are the Golden mask detector and some other Bulgarian makes, they are very powerfull and a quick to recover.

Hi digginwod,i think if you are looking for a meterless detector that is easy to learn with excellent performance, the Tejon is probably going to be hard to beat.Other detectors in tesoros range also have excellent performance combined with simplicity.Non metered machines are getting few and far between these days because trends favour bells and whistles but there are a few about including the tesoros...also look at minelabs sovereign.....this is an excellent machine also but can have slightly more of a learning curve.

I bought my first detector a couple of days ago, its pure Made in USA Whites Goldmaster GMT, next will be a pair of Sunray headphones and a Garret pro pointer tomorrow.

However some items I just cannot pass up like a China made digital pocket scale that even lights up. For cheap disposable items yes I will buy offshore.

Used you may want to get Fisher1265x or 1266x, new or used Fisher 1270.

nautilus dmciib goes pretty deep from what ive seen. i dont own or use one personally, but everyone i hunt with owns them and uses them as their main machine and i must say they are pretty impressive.

thanks for the feedback guys... you can't never get enough info. or imput. right now i think i will just learn what i can do on my machines and take it from their...keep my eyes open to certain deals and get info. that you get from this site....

Any one of the Sovereign models will get about the same depth (the GT is said to be a tad deeper), and the depth they get is deeper than anything I've used over the years in my soil. A good older Sovereign model can be had for $250 to $350 or so. You have the option to use a meter on them or not. Some people don't use a meter on them because of all the multi tones they put out, enabling you to hear distinctions in targets.
