Are soccer fields very productive hunting spots

Oh my, yes!!! Especially if you find some that have adult leagues playing on them. They are also extremely trashy on the sidelines, so get ready for plenty of pulltabs, ringtabs, aluminum scraps, foil and about anything else you can think of. Start a field by working the sidelines first. I would stay out of the field until you have cleaned out those sidelines. When you do get around to actually working the field, I wouldn't be out there digging deep holes. Groundskeepers tend to frown on such behavior and you could get booted right out. I use my Propointer after I've located a target in the fields with my detector and if the Propointer won't hit it, I leave it alone. If it sounds particularly good, I'll try to probe for it, but I never dig out there.

You know that's pretty good advice about the sidelines I didn't think about that I was going to just grid out the whole area. In fact that will probably save me allot of time.

I agree, check the sidelines first. But, If you can get onto the field, look within the goalies box right in front of the net. I have found many goodies there, my best being a 1 ounce gold nugget pendant that is 22 kt.

Try to have a look at the field when games are going on. By doing so, you can get a better idea of how the fans sit and congregate around the field. Often adult players will pull their pants off next to their cars or otherwise change for the game next to their cars. I often find the parking lots better then the field is.

Special care must be taken to not destroy the turf. A lot of us just use a screwdriver to pop out the coins/rings and a Pro Pointer to get their exact location. There are a lot of soccer moms out there watching those fields.

early mornings, rainy days ,etc Some players show up get off the field and leave. Never leave a hole that can be used against you. Some fields have lots of goodies/

Its all a BIG joke on YOU, the metal detecting version of snipe hunting:rofl: They are all setting you up to being mobbed by a legion of ANGRY soccer MOMS:yikes:
