ARE SLEDDING HILLS WORTH THE TIME?

I've checked several local sledding hills around my area. Not while there was snow on the ground in the spring never really found anything of interest. But hey you never know. HH

I've detected a sledding hill in two different parks. I found clad at both locations but never found any rings or jewelry. One thing I should mention is that I detected them mid summer and may have detected after others had already been over them. I would give them a shot if I were you.

I think it would be pretty tough to find any rings as most sledders wear gloves.

How long has the sledding hill been used? Some have been in use for decades or longer so you have a good chance of finding old stuff (once the snow melts) as well as clad, for those that are interested in that. Jewelry is also a possibility as gloves are removed and cold hands loose rings.

I am not interested in hunting newer sledding hills and such especially while they are snow covered as newer coins don't interest me that much.

Found a wallet in the snow while detecting once. Of course I returned it to owner. Around here the south facing sledding hills are about all we can hunt until the rest of the ground thaws.

yea not into clad much thanks everyone just wanted to know

Just curious here? Why do you not like clad? It does add up. Heck I dug more thn $200 the last year I hnted.
Or are you a relic hunter? Beale.

I hunt ski hills in the spring when the snow is mostly gone.I have found a few rings, one gold, other jewelery, lots of newer coins and a few 5,10,and20 dollar bills.Good luck and HH.

I've never tried it, I live too far south now that sledding hills are a rarity. But, when your hands are cold rings slip off when you take your gloves off to get the snow out of them. I think John from Edmonton on the Garrett forum hunts them regularly and does fairly well with ring finds. Worth a shot, GL.

Good rule of thumb:thumbup:....hunt any place where people have been. If people have been there they have lost something. HH TomB

No I like it just like old coins better. But I will take any good target

Thanks! I love old coins also. Most of mu hunting is parks, schools, ballfields that kind of stuff. So an old coin for me is rare. If I find one silver in a hunt I am happy. But I am like you I will take any good target, Beale.
