Archiving Saved Discrimination Patterns?

I recently found out the hard way how to do an Explorer reset. I made the mistake of
installing one battery backwards in the alkaline battery pack. When this happened the unit made the extended dropping tune and then shut itself off. After correcting my mistake I found out all of my saved discrimination patterns were gone.
So I was wondering how can I archive my saved discrim settings in case I find a new way to do a system reset in the future. I thought of taking pictures of the screens or drawing them out.
Wouldn't it be nice if the Explorer III could be synchronized to a pc like a palm.
With the proper software, discrim settings could be built on the pc faster, saved and
then uploaded to the Explorer.
How do other Explorer users backup their settings?

somehow, get a hold of the software package that is used at the Minelab factory on the Explorer, when it is connected on what seems to be an internal rs232 connection point on PCB 1. This connection might let you have a user pc interface.

I save my setting with a digital photo and then transfer them to my computer. I have thought of how to interface the computer with signals for a site, process the data, to id the size, shape, and depth of target to map coins at a site. However, I guess if we could do that then it would be done for us by the circuits in the detector.
However, at some point you just make adjustment on the fly but is is a problem to have discriminating patterns you really like and need to do them over. This is mostly if we have learned targets and edited them for actual in the soil target patterns.
Enjoy your post,
HH, Cody

I took some pictures. I also sent Minelab an email with my post and the reply to ask if
an interface with the Explorer is possible.
If nothing else maybe it will get them to thinking about it. Thanks for the input
Danny
