Just passing this on from the treasure depot under the metal detecting forum, http://www.lrc.ky.gov/record/07rs/hb117.htm there's more info on the metal detection forum I mentioned. basically they want to make it difficult to hunt private property. I email one of my representative here in fayette county. good luck.

But IMO it just wont make much difference. See post " Ky Detectorist Beware by Mark S. FMDAC Alliance Liaison." on the same subject. Florida is gearing up for a fight along similar grounds. A fight that was lost a year ago after a face to face with amateur collectors, and clubs, with State Organizations and State Historians and State Archies. The amateurs stated their case. It was a reasonable position with a win-win on both sides of the issue. The amateurs lost and basically just ignored. Next stop political/or legal action. HH Don

Good laws do not follow bad laws. Legislators seldom know Up from Down, so they believe the recognized "experts." Blacks, Native Americans and other minorities have discovered that if you choose articulate spokesmen, show unity and purpose and Raise Hell, things go a lot better for legislative language in their interests. "You can't change City Hall!" is an attitude of the lower social classes. The university-educated middle class changes City Hall all the time. Just be careful who you put on TV!
