i had a bad experience recently with ara recycling thought i would tell you all so it dont happen to you. im not going to say that they ripped me off i have no proof heres what happend i sent them 1180 grams of sterling silverware it was all older mixed pieces only two spoons where not marked sterling the rest was, and there was some butter knifes in the batch and i do understand the the handles are silver and the blades are not. so i recieved two checks from them one for 15.550 ozs of wieghted silver knifes for $58.95 and another for 21.950 ozs silver flatware for $96.22 so i called and talked them a few times they told me that it was all silver plated and not sterling wow really, so i would recomend that if any of you send anything to them that you test and document every peice first i wish i did hh

You probably should have done what you're suggesting to everyone. Also, seems to me that the per ounce price they gave you is way low compared to the lowest spot prices I'm aware of in the past several weeks as well. I realize one is selling at a wholesale, recycling price, but your figures are distressingly low in my opinion.
