Well the summer here just aint happening, wind, rain, fog, I've never known it so bad. The beaches are almost empty, and everyone is depressed and hacked off.

Went to do the low tide anyway today, fired up the GS5, put a waterproof coat on (to cover the control box mainly), and started to grid the wet sand, 2 hours and no targets, was getting mighty miffed, then a little double blip, just great, a hairpin i thought, but no, it was a little silver earing in the shape of a cross. But silver is silver, and more welcome than a hairpin.

Another 30 mins passed until the next signal, huge response from the GS5, very strong, so knew it was shallow, and there was my first Tungsten ring, 12.27 gr and actually not a bad looking ring, lovely lustre to it, and it was a ring.

So no gold, but I did snatch a ring from what was an absolutly horrible day.

Let's just hope for some sun and golden donors.

You should do well over here when you come for you holls, good job for me your going to the other side  BTW i answered your PM

Hey Kere'd i see that your using a goldie, probably for the dry sand? you would do very well if you stuck a cleansweep (18" x 12") coil on that machine to really scoop up the fresh losses.

Yep, Works great in amongst the iron nails left on the beach after the San Juan fiestas drives the Sovereign into submision, Pretty deep too although i dont us it enough to warent the cleensweep though, having said that i do ok with the 12x10 great coinshooter
Whats the weight like on the cleensweep compared to the 12x10 spider?

I just weighed it. 1lb 1oz without the cover, this head is so good it covers so much ground and saves so much important detecting time.

The only sacrifice is a little depth (you would still find 1 euros at 8"which is good) and then you've got the extra ground covered.

Nice find,Hows the detector doing,Im looking for a land detector now,I love my excal 2,NOT sure what to get for land hunting.......
