April 29 morning hunt. Lots of targets among square nails

Spent a morning at a construction site that was loaded with square nails and other rusty junk. Lots of old brass mixed in, so I know there's some interesting relics there to be discovered. Dug up many oil lamps. How did so many get lost? The silver ring and earring were both on the loop next to them in some tall grass, so they were lost recently. The oldest coin so far is a 1916D penny. There was another detectorist there who said he's been hunting there since construction began. He's found Barber quarters and dimes and a few IHs. Maybe he's only digging the high tones. Going back on 5-13-17 to try other settings and to stay all day. Wish me luck. By the way, just noticed that my spellcheck doesn't recognize the word "detectorist".

Actially, looks like the oldest coin you found is that Chinese one eith the square hole in it... Go get em!

Lots of finds there. Congrats. I found a Chinese coin once and had it examined and hit turned out to be from the 1700's period. My oldest so far. You never know what is going to come out of the ground :)

Got a couple keeper in that lot... yes, i agree with sdd and mcb the Chinese coin is probably much older.. good luck on your next hunt...

I forgot about the Chinese cash. This one is thicker than any of the others I've found.

Nice assortment of finds there 407floyd! I always smile when I dig one of those garter belt hooks! Best of luck and...

Happy Hunting!

I did go back. They've gone in there with compactors and really packed the dirt work down. It was hard to begin with, but now it's twice as hard. Still found some interesting relics. I just got them cleaned up and will post when I get a chance.
