April 2014 a month of many firsts

April 2014 has been a great month for me. I found my first silver, a St Christopher pendant. It's also the first time that I found over 200 US coins in a month,(211 of them). I also went over the one thousand US coins found mark with over 1,100 found to date. All of these coins were found using my Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505 & Legacy 3500 metal detectors.
During the month of April 2014, the 211 US coins found break down as follows;
clad quarters - 29 = 13.7%
clad dimes - 31 = 14.7%
nickels - 12 = 5.7%
cents - 139 = 65.9%
of the cents, 37 were copper and 102 were zinc.
The only reason that I dig zincs is because I don't want to to miss any gold, so I hunt in all metal mode most of the time.

Good job Walt!! I hunted for three years with a tracker IV and a pioneer 505. Averaged just short of three thousand coins per year and lots of goodies, great machines and highly underrated. Don't apologize for digging zinc's. I dig everyone that beeps back at me! Something that er-ks me almost as much as following another md'er that that leaves obvious holes and trash, is hitting a spot and discovering that it has been cherry picked for dimes and quarters and the nickels and Penny's have been left. Like they are to elite and high faluting to stoop to digging zinc's!! Oh well it leaves to gold to us, right?

Way to go Walt. Sounds like you are getting out quite a bit now. I've had to slow down a little.......only getting a dig or two in each week. Keep up the good work.

Oh, and I dig it all up. I too hunt mostly in all metal mode. I just love the sound of a hit!!

The one high tone that keeps fooling me is the $1 signal. I know it can also be "something large" too, but every time I dig this tone it's an empty hole.....

HH y'all.

Frank

Thats okay Frank. Keep digging those dollar signals. Because the one time that you don't dig that signal, might be the time when someone else comes behind you and digs up that Morgan silver dollar.

nice going walt! i have to say zinc is my favorite tone on my machine alomst all of my best finds come in there my 1884 ih for example that puppy was bouncing all over the place but stayed mostly around zinc. other old coppers ive dug bounce between zinc and penny. i find the most stabil id numbers turn out to be trash the bettter targets bounce a bit cheers
