Apparently...you guys are right!!! :chase:

Took the Etrac out to a park that I feel I have covered pretty well with my other detector. Within an hour, I had found my first dug buffalo nickle (1935 - the only other one I ever found was laying right on top!) and a silver Washington quarter (1945). I must add however that I dug MUCH more pull tabs than I ever would have with my other detector. And to be quite honest, I'm not sure my other detector could have even detected the quarter as it was a good 8-9 inches down.

I'm finding myself getting more "jazzed" about the Etrac every time I use it. I'll continue to look to you guys for help, hints and advice.

I think I will be soon joining the "ETRAC ROCKS!!!" crowd.

Sounds to me you've all ready joined..:yo: At first you will dig allot and that's good, pay attention to what the E is telling you and the sounds before you dig and it's responses become more understandable as you get familiar with your machine. I still today dig good repeatable signals with bad numbers just because I can't help but wonder..

Congrats on finds and thanks for post.

Moose

You can ignore the tab range and still find all the silver. But if you want to find any gold, you got to dig the trash.

Congrats on your finds! Welcome to the club. The club president should be by soon to teach you the secret handshake and signs.

Congratulations on the Buff! Moose is right on the money with his advice! Keep it up. Lookin' forward to more great finds.

i do love my etrac and went out yesterday with a buddy who took me out eleven months ago for the first time with my etrac he just sorted grunted at it called it all bells and whistles as i desparately tried to master it as you do on your first outing anyway persuaded him yesterday to have a go AND YES he was impressed and liked it and this man is not easily pleased lol i have always been in the ETRAC ROCKS CLUB and still even now i am able to find ways of finding keepers that puts a smile on my face it knows what it is seeing you just have to decipher it SO HAPPY you are enjoying it WHOOOOPEE

I love my e-trac also and use TTF 100% of the time. Rusty iron: I know nearly all the time but dig some of them occationally just to see what it is, could be a sword you know. My most interesting signals are the iffy ones, nearly always corroded old stuff. Especially when the machine cant find the target after the plug is out, have to find it with the pinpointer then, but always an interesting find. I hunt in quickmask nearly all the time with just CO1-3 disced out, I prefer to hear all iron, it tells me whether a field is old or not. 4-5 grunts/swing; expect to find very old stuff, 4-5 swings without grunts; new field with very few finds at all.
Have recently ordered the new Nel Tornado coil, lots of good reviews on the minelabowners forum som I`m eager to use it.
