AOL and spam

I use aol mail service. As of late my spam box has 10 to 20 spam entries everyday. Anyone else having those problems.
Do you have a suggestion for getting rid of all the spam. I have spam settings in place..but they still keep being sent to me..

I have aol too. And while I can't tell you how to reverse the current dilemma, I CAN tell you what I finally realized causes it. At least for me: I notice that whenever I "take the bait" and click on one of their news stories, that I will subsequently, in the days/weeks that follow, get bombarded with junk like you describe.

The "news stories" I'm referring to, are the rolling headlines, that are always juicy sounding to click on, to read the rest of the story. And the moment you click on them, you get advertisements along with them. And not just for the duration of the story you're trying to read, but .... then on your 'puter. As for antidotes, I dunno. But I've learned NOT to click on aol's "national enquirer caliber" headline click junk.

Spammers hit all of the email servers. They use a computer to generate thousands of email addresses. They hope that a few of those emails will wind up on someone's email account. If they catch one sucker out of every hundred thousand emails that they send they are happy
