anyplace to send the ET for validation, certification???

grouser

Not that I have a known problem, but wondered if there was a place or person that validates or certifies your etrac to be dead on to factory specs. Knowing that perfect QC is not possible there must be some machines that could benefit from this kind of service. Not wanting the factory to do it either,,,looking for a "specialist"

Would KellyCo be out of the question ???

Is this a joke? They don't do any kind of repairs or inspections. If they get a bad detector they send it back to the manufacturer.

how about a standard test that one could perform at home to ease ones mind ?

mine tested at 23 1/2

There are usually people on the For Sale forum that have silver for sale. Otherwise, just go to any "We Buy Gold" store fronts and ask to buy some. I sure they will sell you a scrap grade coin(s). If you were local to Delaware, I would offer to sell you as many as you want. HH, MIke

Just take the E-trac out to a older site. They are super hot on quarters you should find one in no time!

it would be nice to have some kind of reference or baseline. ive never seen another etrac besides my own, the deepest coin ive dug was about 7" or so...very iffy reading.... it would be nice to know if its working properly, i agree.

I have the same problem and agree with you 100%. It is funny, but after hours and hours of research, I am starting to question the quality of minelab and the "advantages".

I have had several machines that were as deep but with them you never new if it was going to be trash or treasure at the bottom of the hole .The E-Trac ups the odds in my favor by a bunch.:thumbup:Never dig rusty pop bottle caps with it's DD coil and that alone would make it a winner for me over other brands :minelab:

Usable Depth!------I like the way you phrased that Ray and completely agree with you.-----I to have had machines that was as deep as the Etrac/Explorers BUT, they certainly didn't have (even close) to the target i.d./info at depth that the Etrac has.------For anybody that doesn't think that's important, just try digging a lot of 8-10"+ various junk targets that was mis-identified & you may change your mind.----Even at those mentioned depths, the Etrac is pretty good with target info (especially audio).------The Etrac isn't perfect (no detector is)---but it doesn't throw those deep good targets (especially silver or copper) into an iron range.-----That's just one of the things (reasons) that makes the Etracs/Explorers such great detectors.-------And steel b.c.'s (crown caps)---I'd forgotten there was so many of those things in the world until I used another brand of detector for a bit after extended use of the Etracs & Explorers!------------Del

You know...I've had my E-Trac for 2 weeks now and just realized I haven't dug one bottle cap! With my other detector those dang things would ring up as quarters and get me all excited...lol. I had a rough start with the E-Trac but I am fully in love with it now.
