I pull at least an indian head out of 2 heavily detected old schools that have been (gridded and pounded for years) every time I go. And all of them are 7-9 inches and come in loud and clear. I just got my XS in March and heres what I've dug so far:
150 wheatbacks
35 indian head pennies(an 1867 came out gleaming with a beautiful shiny green patina that I slightly nicked with my shovel prying it out from under a large root <img src="/metal/html/cry.gif" border=0 width=40 height=15 alt=":cry"> )
1 1864 2 cent piece(a 1st for me)
3 war nickels
6 buffalo nickels
5 V-nickels
12 rosie dimes silver
20 mercury dimes (a 1916 and 2 1916S no D's darn)
9 barber dimes
6 washinton quarters silver
1 walking liberty half dollar in almost MS condition(another 1st for me)
1 1919 large pennie (canada 1919)thought it was my 1st large till I cleaned it(darn again)
at least 12 rings only 1 solid gold
1 neat chauffeurs badge 1919 complete
2 watch fobs (1 at 11 inches my 1st week I owned it, I almost filled in the hole and my handheld pinpointer beeped at the bottom of the hole)This was a faint but repeating signal
10 or so tokens
and alot of "junk jewelry" and miscellaneous copper
Now if a newbie to the explorer can find all this I can't wait till I master this detector.
