Anyone using the Sunray FZ 12" coil and find it deeper then stock 10.5"?

For the short period of time I had a 10.5 incher, I found the FZ12 slid through the shallow waves much easier and did not get nearly as much sand stuck to it when going up to the dry sand with a wet coil. I never did a side by side with the two coils and did not hunt the 10.5 inch coil enough to get a real good feel for it. The FZ12 on the CZ6a just grew on me very quickly for salt water beach work.

Bottom line....covers more area, goes deeper due to configuration easier to swing and above all weighs no more than the stock 10 although still nose heavy and most hipmount when using..
Bummer they don't make them anymore and like hens teeth to find used and especially new...
Heck I practically gave mine away as my stock 8 goes as deep as I want to dig and just don't hunt those large seashore areas anymore...
Certainly not for general hunting but the excell on large fields and seashore beach areas...Certainly go for it ...if you do.....

Hi Frank,

I agree with Dan and tvr. They are awesome for the beach where you need to cover a lot of ground fast.... ie. before the next tide comes in and in shallow surf. Like with any large coil it is almost worthless in high trash areas. I can't use it at a local park. Depth is a hair deeper than my 10.5" but the 10.5" is more sensitive and id's better. If I had all the time in the world to work an area I would use my 10.5" over the 12". Def need to hip or chest mount.

I would be interested in it if you decide it is not for you. I need one for my lady friend.
