Anyone using the MXT in South Florida?

I just got my MXT about four days ago. I have not used a metal detector in about 20 years, last one being a whites 1DB when I was 16. Things have changed a lot! Any way, I have been working with my machine in my back yard (house built around 1949 and on site of much older citrus farm) and finding it difficult to ground balance, as it seems everywhere I put the coil it is reading Iron, Any Suggestions? Also, I keep getting strong signals both audio and visual for 1 cent and dimes, yet when I dig, there is nothing. I know I am not doing something right. Any suggestions or tips on using the MXT here in South Florida would be appreciated. I will save my questions about using on the beach once I master it in the back yard. Best regards.
