Anyone using the Joey coil on there TDI and what do you think of it?

I just purchased the Goldstalker 9 by 13 and love it too.
These coils are water resistant. Whites says their coils are waterproof. I have a friend that had has had two stock TDI coils go bad using them in wet grass.

I think it is Digger Bob and Jummy Sierra make coils for the TDI that are in a Dual Field design and they may be better than regluar CoilTek and NuggetFinder coils.

The Jimmy coil made by Whites for the TDI is a dual field, two coils in one. The Digger coil is a straight mono. The Joey is a good loop, every bit as sensitive as the Jimmy. HOWEVER, it is not water PROOF as are the Whites coils, and it costs about twice as much.
I've used the Joey on my TDI and it works fine. It's a straight mono although available in DD. It is every bit as sensitive to the small targets as the Jimmy loop and goes just as deep, but not more so.

Not unless the others have an advantage, as i am not nugget hunting in NH just jewlery hunting on the ocean beaches.

Digger Bob, do you have a web-page link (or information how to get there if this Forum blocks the link) to where people can have a look at the sizes, price, information explaining what Dual Field is, Mono or DD, etc, on both the Digger coil and Jimmy coil for their TDI's??

You said the Jimmy coil is a Dual Field and made my Whites. You also said the advantage of the Jimmy coil is it is Waterproof and about half the cost if a Joey.

Here you go every one. All the pertinent info on the Jimmy and Digger coils can be found at Jimmy Sierras web site, here - http://www.jimmysierra.com/

Go to the link called "loops and probes". Now, I must take something back. I was mistaken when I said the Joey costs twice as much as the Jimmy. It's actually a bit less from my buddy Doc. He's selling it for $218 even though it retails for $319.
I was thinking of the comparable Coiltek loop to the Digger loop. That is the Gold Stalker 9x13 and sells for $400.

I've not had a chance to compare all these loops side by side on my TDI. I have both of those mentioned and use them with my Minelab 3500. Both great loops. But there are two downsides to them in comparison to the Whites loops. Neither is waterproof and both are made in Australia. If you have a problem with the loop and it is out of warranty, then you are out of luck. There is no repair facility in the U.S. for these "foreign" loops. They cannot be repaired even if you sent them to Oz. It would cost more than a new one and because of the way they are made inside, well, they can't be fixed. Only a broken cable could possibly be repaired but internally, they're history. With Whites, it can be sent back to Sweet Home, Oregon and be repaired - usually.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Bob, I looked it up in more detail here:

1) This one looks the same size as the Single Field Loop Joey 10x5", but I think it is better because it has Dual Field Loop.
The Jimmy Sierra TDI Loop The Jimmy Loop. New Mono Search Coil with Dual Field Design.

For use with Pulse Scan TDI only. Large outer coil maximized for bigger targets and smaller center coil for tiny pieces. It has the same unique Dial Field design as the stock 12" round coil.

2) This one is 14x8".
The Jimmy Sierra Digger Loop. It is a Mono Single (Field) Loop

Bob, since the Digger is a Single Field Loop, can it be used on a Minelab SD/GP(X) machines also??

I thought Jimmy Sierra made other coils like the Big Foot, etc. I cannot find them on his website??

David and all. The TDI loops will not work on any of the Minelab machines. Don't know exactly why but they don't.

As far as the other loops, Bigfoot ect, the man who used to make them for Jimmy died suddenly a few years back and Jimmy has not yet been able to find anyone else who can make them in quantity and quality to satisfy demand. He is very frustrated about it because they were good sellers and filled a niche in the market. But, I understand there are some additional loops coming for the TDI. Can't say more than that right now.
