Anyone using the Golden Umax

New member
How does it do?

I use it plenty. It does great.

Yeah, I take a couple expensive detectors and the Golden when I go hunting. I use the Golden 90% of the time.

If usage in the face of other detectors is any indication, then the Golden inis a winner. Like John, I have other, "high dollar" detectors but I take the Golden most often, It is lightweight and easy to use, yet offers just the right blend of ID features without giving too much. The danger with "too much" is you start believing the meter and displays and stop digging as you should.

The Golden is deep enough, too, for nearly all the general detecting you would do. I found a quarter last seaon at a measured 10-11". That is no mean feat, I can assure you.

If you think of the Golden as a notching, target ID-range detector as opposed to a "trash eliminator" you will have far more success with it. No detector elminates trash, they only lull you into a false sense of security by suggesting they can.
