anyone using the 11x13 coil? better than the 11" coil?

I am thinking of buying the 11x13 coil but i would like to know from those that use it if it's better or goes deeper than the stock 11" coil? it would have to be a lot better to warrant the high cost i think but would like to know for sure if it's worth it.
Thanks...

I started out using the 11 X 13 coil over a year ago and then upgraded to the 11" round coil later on...

At least to my ears, the 11" round coil had much more crisp responses to targets than the older 11X13, but this could just be my imagination. I can't see where the larger coil would provide any benefit in the depth department, but for ground coverage, of course the larger coil wins.

I found plenty of coins 7" and deeper with the 11X13 in my soil - also, can't say for sure that the 11" coil is deeper than the 11X13...probably not much difference IMHO.

So, to answer your question...IMHO save your shekels for the next development from XP!!!

The 13x11 coil is going to be deeper than the other 2 Deus coils but by how much over the 11'' coil that one depends on how the detector is set up,biggest problem with the larger coil is the fact that when mounted on the shaft is makes it so nose heavy its not a nice machine to swing for long time durations, someone over in the UK made a adaptor theat moved the centre of gravity so that it was better to swing.

As soon as the 11'' coil came out folks off loaded the large coil because of the weight and balance of this coil, the best option is still the 11'' coil in my opinion.

I sold the 11x13 a while back. I never could see where it went deeper on coin-sized targets than the 11" round. It's deeper on larger items, but imo not the smaller stuff.

X2 what Terry said.
sold mine also.

Hi y'all. I use my 11x 13 to find the iron patches when looking for old home sites. Then I switch to the 11 because it's just a better coil than the 9 or 11x13. A friend and I hunted today. He has the 9 and I have the 11. I out hunted him 3 bullets to one. We scanned each others targets and he just couldn't pick up the targets like I could. Hope this helps yall.

Kronos, sounds good. But I believe in bad ground the 9" coil will whoop the 11" coil on targets.
From what I've been told. There is a difference in the coil windings. The advantage of smaller coils is a detectorist experiences less target overlap. Obviously making it the best choice in trash infested ground. Now when XP creates a 9" and 11x13 with the new windings we can expect a superb upgrade to sensitivity and depth.

That's not what I was trying to convey. The 11" coil sees a whole lot more volume of ground vs 9" coil. In real bad ground this higher volume with 11" coil destroys the signals. This is why usually with all detectors going to a monster coil doesn't always give added depth. Most cases over neutral ground absolutely, but as the mineral level creeps up there will be a point where both coils will have equal depth, and then as the mineral continues to climb the smaller coil will get the better depth.

I concur with squirrel it's the old High Beams while driving in the fog syndrome. You've got to use Low Beams to be able to see well. More isn't always better. My ground up here in the Adirondacks the machine runs near 90 for mineralization so I leave it in factory default so as to run quiet and run the 9" coil it came with. I just got an 11" one to try and see how it goes. So far here I haven't seen any spots where the mineralization runs less than 85-87.

Ooohhh... I got cha. That makes a whole lotta sense. That's a piece of wisdom coming from experience. Thank you for clearing that up.
Now let's talk about the new winding design in the 11" vs 9"-11x13. Test suggest the 11" has better target response and on neutral ground more depth than both 1st generation coils?

Don't know that there is a new winding in the one coil over the others?? Where did you get that from??
Generally the 11" coil will be deeper than the 9" as the general guide for years in the industry is the width of the coil is the approximate depth.
Hence 9" coil good for 9-10" depth and 11" coil good for 11-12" depth on coin sized targets.

It was mentioned at the bootcamp.
I am in hopes that XP will make a 4x8 oval coil making it easier to hunt cane and bean rows.
