anyone using a cleansweep on their Tejon/cibola/vaquero?

Hunted a small bay beach today and could not run my Tejon in all metal near the powerlines that are on one side of the beach. It constantly pulsed loudly, a reaction from the overhead lines for sure because once I got away from that side of the beach I was able to run in all metal.
one thing that really suprised me about the cleansweep, it ran very smooth over the wet sand as long as I slowed my sweep speed down, switched over to disc and set the disc at iron which really is a low setting, sens about halfway into the red zone. I would have thought a big coil like this would go nuts and Id have to dial in some higher disc setting and lower the sens but not the case. Gotta give this coil a ocean wet sand workout:beers:
I had one of these cleansweeps years ago on a GS II I had and what a difference between that version and this one(the high output one). I got nickels down to 8" or so, weak signal yes, but consistent and that read almost the entire length of the coil. they are lighter also, the old one I had(if I remember right)had a black poured epoxy bottom and this one is the white plastic on the bottom. Tesoro did a heck of a job building this coil.

Wow, thanks!! Lots of fast ground coverage with that 3.6"x18" beauty, and I heard from someone else they go deep too. Also you may look at getting the 10"x12" coil as it also covers alot of ground and is very deep.

I thought I could sweep the sport fields faster. Seems that I had to slow the sweep and don't really like it.

It does not loose much depth in air test compared to the standard coil. I did not find I needed to slow down very much.

It is a great coil on the Tejon for sports fields and the dry sand areas of the beach.

It handles salt beaches on the Tejon OK if I take discrimination up to around low side of foil and run sensitivity around 7 or 8. Over dark black sand streaks I fight for depth with this set up and don't do real well.

I like this coil on the Cibola if I've been asked to look for a very recent drop. With the Cibola I can turn the sensitivity down to 2 or 3 and know I'm only hunting the top 1 to 3 inches max. Then I can run lowest discrimination, cover the area with big overlaps of the coil and use the pinpointer to verify surface target.

David I have the 10X12 and its gotten me the best depth yet of all the coils for the Tejon. This cleansweep came in a package deal I got and Im real happy its a better performer than the one I tried before. I love its coverage and in dry sand I can get a pretty good walk going while swinging it and feel like Im getting great coverage.

tvr I should be able to check it out this weekend on the ocean beach. this coil has a tighter center sweet spot versus the 10X12 so Im hoping to be able to run near the settings I was able to run at the bay beach. That black sand you mentioned might make it a whole new ballgame though, your right:drinking:

You heard wrong.

Switching to a CleanSweep coil will cut your depth at least in half.
I know cause I used one on a Cibola.
Covers a lot of ground and is great for the beach and lost jewlery but dont expect to find anything past 8".

With discriminate at iron, threshold just audible and sensitivity at 10, my experience with the cleansweep on both Cibola and Tejon is between 1 and 1.25 inch less depth, depending on target versus the standard 9 x 8 coil in air tests. Lost a little more on quarters and dimes than I did on nickles. In the ground, I have dug some targets deep enough to feel that the air test is representative of what I can expect in reasonably good ground.

I did bring the ground balance on the Cibola to the front panel. That may be part of the reason I am not seeing a loss of 1/2 of the Cibola's depth like Willee experienced.
Cheers,

Hi Willee,
What did David hear wrong, you lost me on your post. I have the 10X12 and just got the cleansweep. I was getting coins about 8" on the cleansweep, and on the 10X12 about 12" is what I get, again on coins. Thats a sizeable depth difference but also your getting a sizeable coverage increase.

Use a Cleansweep on my Stingray II....it covers an amazing amount of beach quickly but max depth for rings has been around 7"...coins about 8"+ -.

Keith Ive only had this cleansweep a short while and in air tests it will hit a gold mans wedding band further from the coil than a dime or penny.
Thats good depth your getting with that cleansweep youve got. Must be a monster to swing underwater though:surprised:
