Anyone use this coil ?

Hello!

Wondering if anyone has used this coil?
5" DD EXcelerator

I'm really hung up wondering if I should go with the
DD Excelerator or the 5.3 Eclipse.

I heard very good things about the 5.3 Eclipse but looking
for feedback on the 5"DD Excelator.

Thanks!

Hi Larryk56, I have the little 5" coil, it dose a grand job in parks with so much foil and tabs you can,t get with any other coil. On the MXT you can move it a 1/2 to 1" at a time and pick those coins out that no one else can with bigger coil. It is about the only time i take off the 5.3. If you have trashy spots try it it will do Wonder's. Good Dean

I have the 6" DD Excelerator, and I think it's a excellent coil. It has great target separation and and the depth is equal too the 950 stock coil. The 5.3 is also popular, and a few club members I know use the Eclipse but I have had good luck with the 6", and use it 90% of the time. It's light weight, does will in trashy areas and has good depth. What else can you say.

I just ordered the White MXT model with 9.5 Eclipse 950 Search coil
Placed my order through Kellyco.
You have, in my opinion, ordered one of the most versatile detectors available, and the stock 950 coils is very good for hunting sites that have moderate to infrequent target encounters.

There are some coupons for other coils etc .....
Any comments on that coil that comes with it ??
Honestly, I used to not be a fan of the 950 coil. If I had my choice between it and a decent, thin-profile 8" coil I would prefer the 8" size for general use. Since that's not the case, and with the time I put in with the 950 from the summer/fall of last year until now, I've come to accept the 950 for what it is, how it works in low-target sites, and keep mine mounted on a spare lower rod for those times when I opt to use it.

Usually I just mount the 950 on the supplied rod and keep it ready for use as needed because I prefer smaller coils. Always have. I've used all the coils available for the MXT and my favorite coil, that I always keep mounted on the MXT, is White's 5.3 Eclipse. I wish they would have not taken the marketing approach they did when they changed this coil from white plastic to black with the 6.59 kHz offerings as it really confuses shoppers/buyers.

On my XLT, which is a 6.59 kHz model, I keep the 5.3 BullsEye coil mounted with the 950 ready-as-needed. Originally, this smaller concentric wound coils was called the Blue Max 600. It was in white plastic and for the Blue Max series that operated in this lower-mid frequency range. Then they changed the coil color to black and gave it a new decal and name ... 5.3 BlackMax. Just a couple of years later it saw a name and decal change to 5.3 BullsEye, even though it was still in the same 6

Monte,

Thanks for your imput. It's most appreciated.

I will take your advise and that of others and deffinitely order
the 5.3 eclipse and the spare rod. That's a great suggestion.

I just wish that winter would hold off!!

Larry

You won't be sorry with the 5.3 coil Larry. It's a great coil. We've been lucky with the weather here in Central IL. Hopefully it will last a few more weeks. I have relation down in Mountain Grove and they said that they were to get some bad storms from the warmer weather. Hope not. HH, Nancy

Nancy,

Thanks for your boost of confindence on the coil.

I'm going order it tomorrow.

Weatherwise, we been pretty lucky here in Wisconsin
as well. If we could get a few more weeks like today.
I would be a happy camper! (mean ....treasure hunter) ...lol

I hope good weather finds your way as well.

Larry
