anyone use the 12x10 widescan coil on a Vaquero or Cutlass II?

Just wondering if provides a noticeable increase in performance (depth) over the stock coil. With the stock coil so far it seems my Vaq can hit a silver dime at a max of about 7-8". The deepest ones I have found at those depths are mostly repeatable but slightly broken. I can tell that the targets are right on the edge of detection. Looking at ways to reach 9-10" depths if possible.

A lot of my hunting is in local parks and most of the shallow finds are already found. From what I understand a local guy hunted them hard about 15-20 years ago and got most of the easy silver. I am finding silver in the 7+ inch range which was probably deeper than his detector could go at that time. I am hoping that there is more a little deeper.

Also thinking of getting the 12x10 for my Cutlass II umax. I understand that the Cutlass and the Silver are pretty much the same thing? It seems that Silver users are having good luck with the 12x10 although it would be nice if someone who has tried it with the Cutlass could post their opinion.

Also, do users of the 12x10 notice a decrease in ability to get shallow targets or with separation? I will also be doing some beach hunting this summer. How does the 12x10 do on the sand?

As you know, the 12z10 for the Vaquero is a DD, and the 12z10 for the Umax is a concentric. I have not noticed a great deal of increased depth with the DD on the Vaquero, but it does provide better ground coverage. The concentric for the Umax, which my son uses, does provide a good bit more depth. The DD on the beach works pretty well, because it sees less ground than the concentric. But of course you can't use the DD on the Umax, only the HOT detectors.
