You can't get a G/B then just put it is salt mode, put the G/B knob to 10, put the dis at 0 and you will pick up small thin rings at the beach. Forget chains cause most chains are lower then the 90 Degrees that the detector is set at to get the small chains. Even a Sov. won't do that. Both will get them in All Metal or Auto Tune for the CZ. That is another thing though. If you have to turn up the Dis. like you are talking about and can't detect gold on a salt water sand beach then there is something wrong with your CZ5. I can still run my CZ's in the worst black sand you ever saw and can still pull coins and rings and I am talking small rings. I still have a CZ6A,CZ3D,CZ70,CZ20, and they all will get GOLD on the bad beaches. Something is just not clicking here. Maybe some more info on where you are running your CZ5 would help. Now if you are running the CZ5 in normal then you won't get it to G/B and it just won't work but, should work up in the high sand in normal sometimes depends on how dry the sand is. Single Freq. machines don't work well in the wet salt sand only a few will work the rest have to be multi freq machines like the sov, Fihers and the Exp. Everything the Sov. will see at the beach a CZ will see also. The only reason I got a Excal is I like the multi tones and is water proof but my CZ 20 is water proof. So I really don't get what you are sayng about the CZ being like the Tesoro's. :shrug. A CZ will out hunt any tesoro on a wet salt water beach Period. How about some more info on how you got the CZ set up???? Will be glad to help you out. If you CZ won't hunt in the salt mode at 0 dis. There is something wrong with it because it will still get small rings and earrings just like your Sov. Even your Sov. still has to overcome the salt salinty which is at 90 Degrees. Jerry aka Tinfoil
