Anyone use a probe?

Does anyone use a thin round rod as a probe for deeper targets? I've put together one with a wood handle and the end is flat to prevent puncturing finds and I coat and recoat the end with epoxy to prevent scratching.

Are you probing for relics or bottles?

Oh ok don't have much experience probing for relics just bottles. I would think it could be useful though. I usually just keep digging. Lol

I used to tote a little 12" with me in the woods relic hunting for shells. Never had a pin pointer or had even thought abot them in the old days. Made it out of piece of antenna and a drawers porcelin knob. Lost a many too. But cheap to make. When digging big iron with big coils it helped on those big frags. Now that you mention it, I may just make me another. A good old fashioned NoTech Pin Pointer for a couple of dollars and not $127.
