Anyone use a Pinpointer on the beach?

These old eyes just don't see the targets in the sand anymore. Last weekend I had a small ball of copper wire and a couple little pieces of can slaw that were just a pain to find. I wasted some serious time looking in the piles. I was wondering how a Garrett pin pointer would work on the beach. Just for those pain in the ass targets.

I have my garret pro-pointer for the beach and love it, it really helps with the small stuff. You can put some tape over the sound hole to keep the sand and maybe spray out of it. Its really nice and I wouldn't go without it unless I thought it was going to get wet. You could always keep it in a ziploc baggie and use it that way if you were worried about moisture.

I always use mine, the pocket uiprobe, just bought a pistol probe to replace it as its about shot but the jury is still out on that, with either recovery is far quicker

I use a 580 IN the water and under the water. It's a little more cumbersome to use in and under but it speeds up the recovery just a fast as it does on land. Sometimes it's benefits are overlooked as when you fan the 'muck' the target is under, the visibility goes to zero for awhile. It's much easier to wave the PP in your fanned excavation to find the target rather than wave the coil back over it...jim

Is that the 50 vibraprobe grump?

I use the Propointer on the dry and the Vibra-Probe in the wet and it has sure made it easier for the old eyes to locate targets!

Water hunting I use a sifter and sometimes the target is so small and perhaps odd shaped or colored that they are hard to distinguish from the gravel etc. in the bottom of the sifter that even in the best light I have a hard time finding them.

The PP makes a huge difference in time spent and accuracy in locating the target.

The PI machines I use are very sensitive to even tiny bits of metal and some are so small that they are hard to see without a pinpointer!

I have the new beaut Garrets pinpointer and yes we love it for the Beach.I did find that it didn't detect too deep, but with the tiny stuff i agree i dug much less than i normally would.
