Anyone try beach hunting in just pinpoint mode?

Had another minelab guy I met on the beach back a month or so say to try hunting in pinpoint for more depth. Well the beach conditions were poor but we wanted a day on the beach this weekend. Seriously sanded in, some places looked to have several feet of new sand.

Findings were pretty poor, just a few clad coins so I gave it a try. First hit was a cheap plated ring. When I switched back to normal beach mode before digging it was an iffy signal but on the beach I'd have still dug it. About 10" deep.

The next one opened my eyes. Faint but positive pinpoint but nothing in normal, zero, and i had my settings set up for beach hunting. We dug and dug. At a measured 16" we hit the top of a Matchbox size toy truck. The pinpoint mode got it when nothing else could. I may have to try this more often.
