Is there any golden owners out there that have tried the 12 x 10 coil, just currious on how much more depth anyones got and is there any one out there that has tried any mods as well, just love those tones!

i will not try one because the ED 120 is so prone to masking and a bigger coil would make that worse but i would like to try it on the compadre

I tried a 10X12 on the Golden

Last I checked I thought you were using a Golden

There is virtually no mineralization here but his experience with the 10X12 parallels mine. The 10X12 I had was pretty much useless except for hunting areas with little to no trash and no undergrowth. It added some depth on larger than coin size targets but was less sensitive to small targets, including dimes and coins on edge, than the standard coil or the "Super 7" Shadow X2 coil I have on the Golden now. I also noticed the tone degradation Monte mentioned, especially on deeper dimes and pennies.

ok if i were to buy a coil for the golden and my goal would be to get something to a depth of would like 8" if possible my maine hunts are fields old home settlements and old parks and the ground for the most part is not to highly mineralized and another question is there any such test kit you can buy to test the ground mineralization?

I bought a 12 x 10 for my Cortes but sold because in air tests it didn't get any more depth on coins, but it did get an extra 1 inch on a quarter. And it was kind of heavy.

I have been reading that the 12X10 on the Silver umax gives some great depth. I guess this means that there probably isn't much increase on this detector, also? I had my hopes up that it would-I know Tab had some great depth on his Cibola. Thanks.

thats true the 12 x 10 worked great on my silver i could air test quaters at 13" and a silver bangle cracelet i had at 16" and thats no bull.
