Hi I will be going on some very iron infested sites so will have to get a small coil any info from real users would help please ?
regards Gerry (in UK)

I used the X-5 and my buddy used the Joey at a very heavily iron infested camp. Both coils worked very well in target separation. Lowering the sensitivity and set to fast mode will help you out a lot. We were looking for army buttons, half the size of american dimes and did very well.

I've used and sold a lot of the S/R 5" coils and they work very well. Recently, one of our customers bought an S-5 for his Sovereign. He had pulled 3 rare NY buttons out of a trashy house site (circa Civil War). His first find with the S-5 was an 1861 $1 gold coin. Welll worth the money if your in heavy trash. Good hunting, David @ Dixie

I use both, they each have advantages. the Joey will get you a bit more ground coverage and a bit more depth, but also will false and hit on iron and hot rocks more often, the X5 will run very stable and get inbetween major iron infestations better....

Hello Gerry,
Ron from Calif just found a seated dime using the smaller 5"coil in a demo site infested with Iron. He said that this little coil was the best choice to use for the Explorer in iron infested areas.
This is the same Ron that found a cache and was one of the best Minelab finders of last year. I'll try to post his cache find. The cache included a Gold coin, many older silver coins from the early 1800's, a few other older coins and two gold nuggets.
