Anyone traveled by plane with the CTX yet?

I presume the lower rod is way too long for carry on. Any advice?

Thanks...

Guvner..

I have a couple of times to Florida. My luggage was large enough to place my detector in corner to corner and packing my clothes so that the CTX was well cusioned. No problems. Hope you have a safe trip and good luck. HH :minelab:

Most airlines allow, in addition to the carry on, mobility aid devices like braces, cane or crutches. With the coil, control and battery boxes removed the shaft assembly is just like a crouch - just put a rubber foot on the end of the lower shaft... I think that the idea is so crazy that it just may work !

Hey - my buddy cut his rod to fit the carry-on..but he is short no it was problem.
It won't fit in the 26" carryon limit or a large Minelab backpack...

Just made a round trip to England and my 3030 survived intact. Cabelas sells the perfect check bag sized bag I can't find a model# but the bag looks like an over grown duffle bag but the bottum is hard plastic and the lower shaft just fits diagonally. Don't recomend cutting the cabon fiber lower shaft as it has important pieces on both ends!!P.S. the hunting was incredible in U.K.

Hi Gary, I traveled with mine a couple times and just had it sticking out the top of my backpack and TSA never said a thing about it. Once on the plane, I would remove it from the bag and put it in the overhead storage, BUT DON'T FORGET IT UP THERE!

Hope this helps. You planning on a last minute trip to chase Sandy around? -Marc

I just cancelled my tickets a few minutes ago since I couldn't get an answer from the hotel desk either...

Traveled to the UK in Oct. with my CTX. Put the lower rod diagonally in my checked bagged with my lesche and the control box in my carry on. Packed clothes around everything. Not a problem. No hassles.

"with my lesche and the control box in my carry on",,,,, lesche in your carry on really?????,,,,,, I would'nt try that !!!!

Grouser, what he meant was he put his rod and lesche in his checked bag, but put his control box in his carry-on. Was an easy mis-read. I'll let it slide this time.....haha -Marc

Can that case be carried on?
Thanks
Aaron
