Anyone still use a Garrett Scorpion?

Sven

I never used one or had the opportunity to own one, for the most part figured they were pretty much old tech using Ground Hog circuitry.
The Scorp forum is basically dead.
The Scorp does has its good points.
Always was kind of curious as a beep and dig how it stacked up to a Tesoro? Is it still relevant today, as Tesoros are just as old in tech.
Think most of the Scorps are now buried in a closet.................

never used a Garrett except for pin pointer , one for sale.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Garrett-The-Scorpion-Gold-Stinger-Metal-Detector-/131895406209?hash=item1eb5942e81:g:cnQAAOSwTZ1XnrvA

isn't it a gold detector? off to look at spec's.

AJ

Yes a gold detector but, based on the Garrett Groundhog at 15khz frequency that Australians used for years looking for gold.
All metal non-motion, TR, and motion disc modes.
Used prices on the Scorps have come down way below what that ebay seller is asking.
Groundhog ADS units always made great coin and ring detectors.

Scorpion replaced the AT4 which replaced the Groundhog series which appeared in 1978 or 79.
Scorps used the GH circuitry and added the motion disc.

so when did it come out before the minelab sd2000 ?

oh to have been detecting the gold fields 20 odd years ago.

still plenty out there just have to work harder to find it like everything these days.

I picked up a mint one earlier this year.... well it wasn't for me..... it did ok in my test garden, if I could find one for a $100 I would prob snag it. I just could not get my disc mode to work very well
