Anyone Prospecting Yet?

There it is... staring back at me from the T2 manual... the very top of the list of uses for the "Alien"... NUGGET HUNTING!!! Has anyone actually done it yet? If so, I would love to hear how the T2 performs in these circumstances and if it was successful.

I haven't gotten mine back from Texas yet, but when I do-I want to do some prospecting too. Maybe someone will post their experiences here and give us some pointers! Have you done any air tests with different size nuggets or any other gold? This crazy weather has got to co-operate too!!

Don't have any gold samples to test it with, aside from jewelry and such. Hope to hear from someone who has been able to test it properly.

I've already mentioned a couple times that my T2 is more sensitive to small gold than my Fisher Gold Bug and even my Falcon Pinpointer. In air tests, it picks up a .5 grain flake. A small "picker" reads to about 2.5 inches.

I've had it to some old gold mines, and while I found tiny bits of native iron, air rifle pellets and 22 slugs, all at good depth, I haven't swung the coil over a nugget yet. This doesn't surprise me, in all my years of prospecting with various detectors, I've only found one small nugget. I take my picker nug along on my trips and use it as a test. It has never failed to read it within it's range of detection. The T2 has handled the mineralization well, which varies from mid-60's to the low 90's.

I bought the T2 with prospecting as a primary use, so it will see a workout this summer.

Must've missed your posts regarding this, Ed. Thanks for the review. Sounds promising. There's a natural wash out by my parents' home that was the site for a few old Mexican mines that I hear a few people have had luck detecting with other machines in the past. I'll give 'er a try soon, weather & time permitting and I'll report back.
