Anyone play with the tones?

While out on a learning hunt today at a small local park, I decided to play with the tones some. So I sat on a park bench and started changing the setup of the tones. I chose 3 tones, then I selected advanced on the tones. That is where I was impressed that you can actually change the VID range for each tone. I raised the lower tone to cover up to 55 and then the second tone for 56 to 90, the last , high tone, I set for 91 and above. This is a great feature, almost like adding a specific tone for a range that will indicate just one target type. try it, just dont get too small on your ranges, it seems to cause the unit to have a hard time sounding off, if the range is too small.

Yea it's a pretty cool and usable feature. I set up a 3 tome i like to run for coins, but have been doing well with pitch tone in the iron.

Yes, and it is one of most useful features of the Deus. I always use four tones: lowest tone for both iron and aluminum, mid tone for the foil/ nickel range, and high tone for copper/silver.

Alain Loubet,

Invented the Deus and he believed that 3 tones what the best all round setting for the average user.

I have tried others and settled on 3 tones which suits my sense of hearing just fine. :beers: Jerry.

that is the freq sets I have been using.. I'm kind of hoping the 2.1 update will have a multi-tone setting lol

That would be nice Evan, even if it just allows the nickel range to give a high tone would be very nice.

Tom - from my experience, I would back your second cut-off to no more than 80. Also, the Target ID varies by freq - the higher the freq the higher the reading for the ID. I' have found some great stuff in the low 80's at 12k - like thin old half reales....

I was going to ask that very question. If you make your cut off points (in one frequency) too high or low then when you switch frequencies, the same coin might hit in a different tone??? So, it's better to be a bit forgiving, depending on where you coins hit. Thanks for that (if I understood you correctly.)

You could always set up an identical program with a different frequency and tone cut off points. If you do it properly, the audio will remain the same for your targets, although the VDI numbers will be different.

yep good reply.. It is very programmable
