Anyone notice this falsing issue on the AT-PRO

Keith Southern

Active member
I have noticed it since I pulled it out of the box and put it together,,,

not a real problem...But I believe it is the culprit to some of the falsing I get in the wood's when it I touch certain twig's and stick's...Too bad it's falses to the High tone..wish it fasled to the iron tone!!!!

anyway it only does it when rocking the coil back and forth ...or when swinging and you make an abrupt reverse direction...

Sometimes it is annoying but not too bad... Might just be from the extra sensitivity ..might be looking at the wire but I dont believe so because I can take the coil loose and pass wire by coil and really no noise...

I can also lay housing on ground and hold coil in hand and rock it like in video and it falses...

you can tap coil on bottom and no falsing ... just the weird movement does it...

Some body else check there's out and let me know..

do they all do it or just mine...

thanks

Keith I just tried mine it is the same way I had not noticed it before your post,it must be that it is so sensitive I guess I won't wiggle it when I hunt.

Would not wrap that coil wire up so tight. Fall or something and push the nose of the coil up you can rip the cord right out of the coil.
Ask me how I know.

Mine does this just a little bit.. My Scorpion really did that so I think it could just be that the detector is so sensitive.

really strange phenomenon ... I would be like to know what it see's when it does it though...

Nature of the beast,.

Hope it does not cause problems wading?Got some relic wading I have to do!!

I just checked mine and it does the same thing. I hadn't noticed it prior to reading this. Just like you said, higher sensitivity makes it worse, lower it enough and it goes away. I guess time will tell if it's a real issue.

I get mine tomarrow. I will check it. I had a machine that did it. I actually had to tie wrap the coil wire strait up the shaft. so it was firm then wrapped the wire leaving no stress on the connector of the control box. I also added a wrap of electrical tape at the spot on the bottom shaft. where it rested when my arm was comforable to stop any wobbeling.
Drives me nuts. I would get a signal when accidently hitting a twig or something.

while on the subject I had one of those automax pinpointers that would signal in the hle on any root. I now feel bad I gave it to a new detectorist.

Black tape to reduce coil wobble helps to minimize falsing. My sounds are like Keiths not like Garretts. I've got to figure out a way to use Killer B's.

Coil is sensitive to bumps also.
Brushing a sand mound while detecting at the beach will sometimes false it.
But ... some of my other detectors do that also so it is not uncommon.

The aces do a lot of falsing when bumped , Ive always attributed it to needing a ground balance. If the ATPro does it too can it be fixed by adjusting the ground balance ?

Sweet. I love mine hot to the touch.

Keith Just tried to my AT Pro like you showed in your video could not make mine false like yours not even a sound out of it. Seems like something is not right with yours. I can also hit coil with my hand does not bother it at all.

Hummm ... so many that did ... yours dont ... perhaps there is something wrong with yours.
Will it air check a quarter at 12" or more?

Just checked mine again Pro Mode and Max Sensivity.
It will false even with a light finger tap on the coil.
The front center part seems most sensitive to a finger tap.

Willee you are correct i will do it in Pro mode full sen. and get better then 12" on quarter. When i tested mine i was in standard coin mode full sen. and it would not do it. Thanks for the insight. So i guess it is the nature of the beast!

new 1 just out of the box doing the same thing
not a problem but just weird :hot:
