Anyone notice the weight distribution on the CTX 3030 is comparably to the Sovereign GT

Ron i found the CTX to be balanced much better than the previous machines.... but still heavier than the Sov. I find i can extend the shaft and get a lot of coverage with the Sov.... but thats when the CTX starts getting heavy. One of these days we will get a screen machine light like the Deus with the battery hip mounted.

Dew,I noticed the side view looks like a Sovereign on a straight shaft. Thanks for the information.HH Ron

Most dirt hunters dont extend their shafts like we do on the beach they hunt directly in front of them low and slow. I love being able to extend the shaft on a good open beach. Looks like a weed whacker to me..... lol, jk Ron. To me its to military looking. You have to admit its catching on even with that crazy price.... people feel like its the only thing on the market to do it all. Its still got some bugs they need to work out so i doubt ill ever own one especially as a beach hunter. Ive just learned i like a simple machine on the beach. I know a couple of guys who just bought one, once they get some time on then we will do a little comparison out there.

Dew and Ron, if they had made this machine lighter I could have gotten past the cost mark on it. The machine alone is expensive and then any extra lower rods or coils are killer price also. You can still read posts about people who kept their Sovs/Excals and alternate between the two so its either a bugger to decipher/learn the CTX or its not that much different as far as results go from beach hunting.
The Etrac made hunting easier than using an Explorer in my opinion, and that seems like a natural progression in that line. Looks like the CTX doesnt follow those footsteps. Again I agree with Dew, keep it simple, especially on the beach where the digging is easier and you got a big scoop:detecting:
The times I have gotten out hunting this summer have been split with my At pro and Sov elite on a straight rod fully extended, nice wide full coverage sweeps.

I think its got some great features and the increased recovery was seriously needed. BUT.... the biggy right now is dunking that thing hoping it dont leak. Dont even think about changing a battery on the beach you cant keep the sand off it. Its a work in progress.... but ive also seen more guys spend the bucks to try one than i thought would. Like you said, very few sold the Xcal or Etrac if they had them and some has sold them.... but thats common with new machines.
