We've hunted one in the area and so far there's been over 150 old coins pulled out. Our metal detecting club had two Spring "fun" hunts there. Both times we camped the entire weekend. There's a lot of trash that we've taken out of the ground also and you'll be finding all kinds of Scout memorabilia. If the ranger/owner doesn't mind you hunting, go for it. Just take your garbage with and dispose of it in the trash. I would give it a good try, but watch out for Poison Ivy. It should be quite high by now. Take lots of bug spray also.
