HI everyone,
I lake hunt mostly with a excall 800 with a 8 inch coil. Its against the law to hunt state owned lakes here in North Carolina and living 3 hours from the nearest beach my water hunting is limited to say the least. My wife & Kids gave me an ace 250 for fathers day last year to land hunt and I am really enjoying it.But I was wondering if the 800 would do better with it being made for water.PLEASE IF U HAVE ANY LAND HUNTING EXPER WITH AN EXCALL 800 PLEASE LEAVE ME SOME TIPS!!! I do know the excall is alot heavier because I still have the stock shaft on it.Thanks guys for any & all help.

A buddy of mine used an excal for years for land hunting exclusively and was very successful!

The 8 is great for trashy areas. Get the straight shaft from Plugger and you will have a fantastic land machine. Some like the chest or belt mount and those I hear are really great too.

I use mine on land a lot and it makes me a better water hunter.

One of my hunting partners has been using the Excal only for all land hunting for the past 20 years and has done very well.

I use my excal 800 for land hunting. I have found several silver rings and a gold ring. I love it. I built my own straight shaft to allow for longer hunts. It does GREAT in trashy areas. The drawback is that it does take longer to cover ground. I do like the fact I can hunt in the rain without the fear of ruining my detector.

I got a bust dime and a large cent in the same hole the first time I ever used an Excal on land. It's just a Sovereign that's water proof...Although a good bit heavier.

I land hunt with my Excal 1000 more than I do with my Explorer Se Pro. The Excal makes a great land machine, I prefer the tones to those made by my Se Pro. The Excal is a wonderful all-around machine, IMO. HH -Marc
