Anyone know what this is?

Spent another 2 hours hunting today as it was in the 70's again. Found a few bucks in clad, a small silver ring, and this metal tag of some kind. It is 2 ounces in weight and appears to be an alloy of copper, but it definitely is not iron. Any ideas? I found it near a dairy store on what used to be farm land. The smaller piece is a nickel!

I think it is a cow tag also. 70 degrees  send some of that weather up here.

Wish we had cow tags like that here! Ours are plastic or nothing. I would have thought dray or the milkman.

Thanks for the help. Are these old or in current use?
