Anyone know what kind of bug this is?

Could it be a young dragonfly or something? Looks alien! Just took the shot with the 500mm lens about 25 feet away on the powerline running to the apartment.

it might sting or bite. You might try to get a neighbor to catch it for you, put it in a mason jar. Then you can show it to others, and hopefully someone could tell you what it was. Thanks for sharing. Kelley (Texas) :)

I think it's a "something" for sure. Looks to be quite mean too. Hopefully you can find out what it is so you can let us all know. I've never seen anything like it and yes, it does look "alien". How big was it?

Extremely amazing photography Dave. I would be lucky to get it in the frame at 25'.

Thanks guys. I'm suspecting it's a young form of dragonfly but not sure. Have you seen the news regarding the killer asian hornets?.....now that's scary!

You're not kidding that's scary. Those hornets are deadly. There was a special on them the other evening. I can't remember what channel it was on but it was quite an eye opener about these hornets. We've had so many of the Asian beetles, Asian flying carp, etc. and we can't control any of them. They're taking over and nothing can stop them. Lord knows we don't need those Asian hornets.
