Anyone know what frequency the Freedom 1 is?

Southwind

Well-known member
Bought another vintage Garrett this weekend. A Freedom 1 Coin Commander. I had one of these back in the day they were new and eventually upgraded to the Freedom III. While testing the Freedom 1 I was impressed on the ability to hit on my gold. It does just about as good as my DFX which is my best detector for small odd shaped gold. My DFX is set at 15 KHZ but I couldn't find any info on what frequency the Freedom 1 operates at. Anyone know?

Thanks

I had one of those back in the day, its a good machine and built like a tank and found a lot with it, I think its under 10 khz.

If I'm not mistaken, they should run around the 7.2 khz range. Just about all of the Garretts ran in that range until they popped out the Ace 150/250 series that dropped down into the upper 6 khz range.

The 5.5 decal on the coil is the frequency, it is the same as my Freedom 2 Coin Commander. I still use it for mainly coin and jewelry hunting.
