Anyone know if you can get wireless headphones for the garret and do they work well?

I don't know if anyone has marketed one specifically for metal detectors, but I have built one and it worked just fine. All you need is to buy a FM battery operated transceiver from radio shack, and a set of FM headphones. You just hook up the detector to the transceiver, which mounts nicely on the outside of the arm cuff. Next, slip on the headset, tune it to the same frequency as the transceiver and you are now wired(less) for sound. :)

And those belltones are music to your ears..........

John, follow this link ....http://ca.creative.com/

$149.99 US

Would be alot more cost effective to build your own with the FM transmitter and small radio...but, sure is one cool package.

glad to know that there is a product that will work with the garret. I'm going to look into it. I'd like to see if it has volume control. Have you tried this style before?

Cheers!

I bought a set of the headphones and transmitter listed on this web site. I got them at "Big Lots" store for $16.00. They may not be the greatest but they work for me. I use them on my ACE250 and White's idx-pro. http://www.heartlandamerica.com/browse/item.asp?product=sentry-ho900-wireless-headphones&PIN=37714&SC=WIF20001

that option as well. To be honest my hearing has been damaged over the years from metal detecting and I've had enough with the corded headphones. It drives me nuts:ranting:...... last weekend was the last straw:ranting:...can't handle it anymore:rage:. The great thing about the headphones is that it keeps my ears warm in the winter months:lmfao:...just like ear muffs. Do you use wireless headphones? Just wondering how long the batteries last.

Thankyou

This unit can be used with any audio output. It has batteries in the headphone and also in the transmitter that plugs into the output of detector. I use valcro to attach the unit to detectors. It has quite a long range. I think about 100 foot or so. Batteries seem to last long. I would say depending on use, about 6 hours or more.

Radio Shack which is now called the "Source" and was told they don't sell transievers.....I than asked what they had for wireless hook up and was shown a Bluetooth set for the sale price of $120 Canadian. This was a lighter version of what CanadianDigger had linked to. By light I mean very fragile looking. I went to another Radio Shack and was again told they don't sell anything I can make myself. Gotta get to a bigger city....I'll try Hamilton next. My daughter goes to University there. I might have to go the "Ouch" route if I can't find anything. The light version of the Bluetooth has a nickel cad battery which is rechargable but I was told would only hold a charge for three hours. I was also told I'd have to buy a new battery in about 3 years....which they do not sell. Triple Ouch !
