My wife has roped me into (pyramid fest) this weekend. It is on a indian reservation in Nevada. I was hoping that someone from the area could suggest a park or something within reasonable driving distance, I plan to go dirtfishing on Saturday while she fishes the lake. Any advice would be great.

Sorry I'm late, just saw your post.
City of Reno requires a permit for detecting. It is free and you get it at the Parks office located at one of the nicer old parks in the area. \
Several older parks that do get hunted. and a few that are strictly off limits.

Out towards Fernley, lots of newer places. Ask permission if you are on reservation land. You DO NOT want the tribal police investigating you. Some areas are sensitive or sacred to the tribe. Not the place to "beg forgiveness".

Olinghouse is a area known for placer gold. But there are plenty of stakes claims in those canyons.
