There are Mexican and Central American coins all over the place up here in NY. Alomost every time I go to the grocery store I find a few in the Coinstar machine. Soccer fields are the prime spot for finding them detecting. I had accumulated over 3 pounds of modern Mexican coins and recently eBayed them. I would have gladly given them to any illegal alien as long as they promised to take them back across the Rio Grande with them.

Chris

I would have given them to you too.

In the county in Fl. where I live there was a very healthy Mexican population. Most of the coins I got down there were Caribbean coins, not Mexican. I would find that stuff in my change.

Down here in south Texas we find loads of them, from 1935 silver 5 centavos to 1000 pesos coins.

I have 12 coins. Cant remember how or where when I acquired them. 11 are copper Centavo coins. Dating 40s 50s and 2 are 1960. The other is a 1960 1 peso which supposed to have a small percentage of silver. These are circ. with the Peso having a banged up edge. Would rather trade all for a silver dime or a couple indian heads in good legible cond. At least close to good cond. and up. Im not looking investment coins just the kind I like to save. If Hes interested let me know and I get a better description what each is and cond.

I have a friend who manages a bar at a horse show facility. As you might imagine, 99.4% of the stable workers were not born in this country. He brings me baggies of change from all over the place on a weekly basis. Many are Eastern Carribean but most are Guatamala. These guys make decent money. I know this because I know a few high school kids that do it too. Why they still carry around money from their country is beyond me. I think what it really indicates is that the influx of new illegals is larger than anybody is willing to admit. It depresses the hell out of me.

I've got a jar full of Mexican coins including a gold colored $100 coin and some lesseer denominations. I just found a mint condition 1975 Mexican nickel the other day.

No coin in particular. If you could post photos I could forward them.
He's not a metal detectionist, just likes collecting old and new
spanish coins.
RR:lol:

Thanks for all your responses.
He doesn't metal detect, though I'm trying to get him interested.
He's too busy running a real estate office with his wife and operating
an apartment building (where I happen to live).
I think once he see's the resaponses I printed off he might
join the forum just to see whats its all about and can contact
everyone individually.

Heres what I got if interested. Pic 1 is one peso 1960. pic 2 is 5 cinco cetavos 1958-60 pic 3 is 1955 cicuenta cetavos and 44,57 20 centavos. pic 4 is 43,44,55 cinco centavos . These dont mean a lot to me so Id trade all 12 for a silver us dime.
