I have a lone star that I use as a back up or with the 4" coil for tot lots. I have used both coils in shallow water and now they both are acting up giving false beeps. Any info would help thanks.

oh yeah. the 7" and 10" coils for my pioneer 202 [qd2] act up a lot even when i run them through heavy dew or wet grass. they false a lot, especially on the ends of the swings. i got tired of hearing all that falsing, got another machine, but still occasionally use my 202 on dry days. for some reason, my coils don't like moisture or water either. hh,

yep, bet they got wet. I dried mine out when it happened with my 4" coil. Then sealed all 3 coils with silicone sealant. No issues since and they go submerged.

I have had similar problems with the 8" coil only...the 4" I have (from ratshack) can be dunked all day and still work just fine. If you have a coil cover on your coil, and water gets between the cover and the coil, your gonna have problems...silicon your covers when you put em on...

BH uses an epoxy to seal the coils, check for any tiny pin size hole on the underside of the coil around the edges. The hole would be caused by an air bubble or the epoxy not adhering to a certain area. 11 yrs ago a bought a pioneer 202, it was brand new when I swung in a puddle next to a cellar hole, it wasn't 5 min. later and it was acting irratically. When I got it home and let it dry out it worked fine again. Because it was new I had the factory warranty shipped back the coil, they promptely sent me a new one with a letter of apology for the inconvenience. Long story short, yes it probably got wet. 11yrs later the 202 still works great my kids are using it, as I have upgraded to (white's xlt, Minelab Safari, and BH pioneer 505). I would suggest if your machine is still under warranty send your coil back, with an explanation of what happened. Remember the companies rely on the customers to keep their companies profittable. Hope this Helped!
