Everything I enter is coming up blank. I am going to stay with it for a while longer and see if I can get an answer. Kelley (Texas) :)

Compared with Belgium 2 cent coin, 1909

The Belgium flag and national symbol, the lion. "Belgie" is the Dutch, "Belgique" is the French for Belgium. 1914-1919* are the years of WWI, in which most of Belgium was occupied by the German Army of the Kaiser.

The the token looks like it was hand etched. Overall, the detail is well done and looks like it was based on a Belgium coin though you can really see in the letters the variations in size and letter forms (compare the E's). Possibly a one of a kind, similar to the kind of trench art that was done by soldiers of all sides during the war.

*This token and some war memorials date the end of the war as being when the Versailles treaty was signed in 1919. Most commemorations of the war's end concentrate on the armistice of 1918 when at 11 a.m. on 11 November 1918

it makes more sense. I have found a number of Belium coins at old Edgewood as well. Possibly an old settler was from Belgium? Or someone saw action there and made this?

Anyway, many thanks for taking the time to research it for me.

I just do not have the skills on using Google as some folks. Our winter has been very mild so far, only had two nights of freezing temperatures so far with only four weeks of winter left. What we need is rain, and lots of it. Please have a great day! Kelley (Texas) :)

I think [hope] that Steve may have nailed it. It has that look and some of the things I have seen done with coins makes his explanation very plausible.

At any point, the lady who found it will be pleased to have some sort of explanation of what it actually might be.
