Hi guys! I started metal detecting back in 1982 with a Whites/Sears 5000D. I have owned a Whites Eagle Spectrum, Tesoro Bandito, and my favorite, a Fisher CZ5. I got out of detecting about 10 years ago; four kids, a divorce, financial problems led me to sell my detector out of necessity. Well, I'm ready to jump back in. I've been researching what has transpired after all this time, and my former favorite detector manufacturer doesn't appear to be the same company anymore. In short, I'm ready to move on to greener pastures!
I've looked at quite a few of the newer detectors, and I have to say the V3i really has me intrigued! I have the money to spend, but I would like to see one up close, preferably in a public school or park setting so I could try some depth testing. What impressed me about my former CZ5 years ago was the depth it achieved over the other machines I had tried. This new Whites detector, with all its apparent capabilities, seems like the machine I'm looking for. I just don't want to pick up a phone and order one without trying it out first.
Does anyone on this forum own one of these machines in the Elgin, IL vicinity? I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to check it out!
