Anyone have a picture of their scoop for tiny objects?

alton

New member
I have been having trouble with small items keep washing through the holes in my scoop. Does anyone have a good solution for this? Would you mind posting a picture of it?

I would be grateful!

Thanks,
Alton

Well here is a good scoop but it takes some time to dig with it...I don't think even a flee could slip thru it.................Sorry Alton, Could not help myself....

I percieve that I have just been the object of a little public humor?

I'll try to be more specific next time.

That was a good one

Someone mentioned putting small mesh in the bottom, or on the bottom of the scoop. That, or some other remedy is what I'm looking for.

TIA
Alton

and for real - once it falls thru like twice, i scoop it up and carry to damp sand and dump out and kick the sand off with my foot and look around for whatever it is.

we have a lot ot tiny pieces of copper bullet casings here, man they give me a fit...........some guys put small wire in their scoops with plastic wire ties

good luck

Its 3/8 in expanded metal cut to fit the bottom and lower part of the scoop works well as i can even get stud earrings just used plastic wire ties to keep in place total cost about two bucks

I find them in the bottom of my sifter! Which gives me more time to find targets in the bottom!

... I especilly like enlisting the aid of any nearby 'beach sprites.' Haul a lot of goop to the dry sand and then wave down some honeys to help you look. Nice.

I like the float idea, but what about the attention it gathers from onlookers? ANd how do you use it in the surf?

I think what deerman has done is the right idea. I know many who have the bottom and sides of their scoop covered in finer mesh of some sort.
