Anyone have a damaged CTX coil for cheap?

Hi,
I'm curious to see if I were to obtain a damaged CTX coil if I could substitute a home-made coil (perhaps BigFoot style) for it using the original coil's IC.
So if you have one and will let it go really cheap I'd be interested. Or if someone's already tried this how did it work out?

Are you an EE? I think you would need to be one to understand to relation and connections from windings to the IC. It would be interesting to see if another one could be created.

I would like to see this Frankencoil if you end up cobbling it together...

I'm pretty sure that the guy who services Minelab's GPX and SDC machines does sp from his home in Chandler AZ. Why not call ML and offer your services?

I sent them my resume and a suggestion that perhaps they might have a stash of bad boards I could go through here.
