Anyone have a Automax V4 Pinpointer

Got one of these through kellyco. And it is useless, maybe there is something wrong wt the one I have. By the time you set the sensitivity so it wont go off on its own, it wont pick up a coin if it is touching it.But it will pick up the stove, lol.
Just wondering if anyone has one that accually works for coins?

I have one don;t like it but it does work it picks up a coin at about an inch it was given to me so I use it but am going to buy another one soon. Howard

I'm not impressed with mine, I tried it and,
well since it was free I tried it ..

I too made the mistake of getting a V-4, it not only had no range and was constantly needing adjusted, but the first time it got slightly wet it was fried! Then bougth a Garrett Pro-Pointer and just love it, it comes with its own holster, is short and compact, built like a tank, waterproof (except for possibly the speaker vent and it can be sealed), has a LED light for use at dusk, comes with just an off-on switch and no other adjustments and has a range of 1 to 2 inches on coins, more on larger stuff. Perfect for what I need...

LMAO,,,, Well I think I got my answer on this topic. You would think that they know that they are selling something that don't work. Even though only $20 wt a detector, wonder if they would refund?

I'de be upset if I bought it outright, I think they are going 4 about $80, suggested $140. I seen the older automax in use, the V2,, looks just like the V4,, but the V2 works great. Somebody screwed up wt this one.

Got mine today with my new detector. Cost me twenty bucks. Wish I would have read these posts before wasting the 20 dollars  POS No depth at all!

Been thinking about this a little. Imagine how many people have bought one of these?Seems the company that sells them should know by now ,that they dont work, giving them the benifit of dought that maybe they didnt know at first. Although I have NOT contacted them. The numbers could be in the 1000s, seems they are listed everywhere as a great product.
Has anyone contacted the company?? Or like me is $20 not worth the effort? What about them that paid $90?

I also believe that the "big wigs" keep an eye on these forums as a way to market, upgrade and improve their products. Hello???? lol Why did you change the V2? THE V4 IS USELESS. sry but its true. lol

Depending on the responses I may contact them. At this point I really dont know who makes them or who should be contacted. My purchase was made through Kellyco.I acually bought 2 V4s for 20$ each wt puchase of 2 detecters.

Its also seems to me that they would quit marketing these as a great product if they know they dont function as they say they do. Maybe even a recall, isnt that how it usually works? Seems criminal(maybe to strong of word) to go to a web site and see the ad for this great product, still out there selling.Just my opionion.

Its only 20$ but now I have to go buy another pinpointer,my whites bullseye is about worn out after years of abuse. Was really hoping the V4 worked like the V2( a great pinpointer)

Any one with me on this?????? Has anyone tried to refund or exchange?

I've had two V-2s.. The firest one the barrel broke off almost immediatly, guts fell out and it quit working. A forum member gave me another one that he didn't like and it lasted almost a year before it quit working. I was told that Kellyco would have replaced the first one since I only had it a week or so. Wasn't worth the effort to me so I didn't do it. I bought a half dozen of those little stud finder type detector/pinpointers from Harbor Freight and gave 4 of them away to my friends. Cost about $15.00 each and the two I kept are still working. They work every bit as good as the V-2 and are disposable! Onus

I bought one to and the same not very impressed with it at all ended up giving it to my father inlaw he seems to like it because of the vibrate feature, I hate to say it my $16.00 cen tech works way better the v-4 would be great if your going to stars wars and going one on one with darth vader

They are cheep. I haven't seen many good PP'er out there till this year that I would want to put out a lot of cash for. Guess I'm cheep. The auto-max has served my purpose well. It picks up pennies at 1". I would never pay top bucks for it. It works and I wouldn't want to be without a PP'er.
The tip broke off with in a year. I thought the thing was to long anyway. I used a tubing cutter to shorten it and put it back together with a shrink boot. Also made a little holster for it.
Kellyco is a great place to buy a MD'er from. They do have their big profit items, that I try to watch out for. It would be nice if they only sold top quality stuff instead of some Chinese junk. Oh yea. I got the auto-max free when I bought my detectors from them. Free is good, because I still got my detector cheaper than anywhere else. So I have two auto-max. I have ran mine for 4 years now and it still works well. Also if I break the thing, no big sweat, like if I had paid a lot of money for it.
I not saying anybody is, but we all have our priorities on what we can put out for our MD'ing stuff and I'm not going to knock what anybody uses. Times are hard for some of us. I always try to get the best value for the dollar. When I run out of auto-max's, I hope I have enough clad saved to get a descent PP'er. Happy Hunting!!!!!

I also use Auto Max V4 and V2. Never had a problem with any of them.

Yep got mine fpr $20.00 from Kellyco... Now I can say this things is unwiedly and darn right poorly designed. Not sure as PP it's supposed to let me probe a hole and find my object.. It's not sensitive enough.

I like the PistolPP from what I've seen this thing works grand. A bit pricey but I'll eventulaly get one of them.

The key to detecting is the speedy recovery. A large flap hole a flip over of the sod flap and a root around the dirt for the object. I've seen some videos where guys recover medium depth silver this way inside of 2 minutes...

I'm always skeptical of some posters who claim to rack up 50 or so items and coins while there wife is in the shopping center.. The time it takes to recover just doesn't jive with the time alotted.

A clear test... Cool find as well.

Anyway look into the PistolProbe.. It seems to be a winner...

My V4 served it's purpose till I was able to afford my Garrett. I would never buy a V4 for retail but for what it cost it did OK. I still keep my V4 for a backup. I could get about an inch or so with it and I was careful about jamming it into the dirt. I don't consider it as junk just overpriced at retail. It does work and is definitively better than nothing.
